Abstract

This paper seeks to highlight the importance of pursuing predictability in social management within the framework of mining operations.

To achieve predictability, it proposes the proper management of knowledge generated through the various social processes undertaken as part of social management.

As part of knowledge management, methodological tools are suggested to foster learning and to build predictive scenarios in the face of similar social contexts.

The methodological approach presented here refers to the establishment of a process for systematizing the experiences gathered during the social processes addressed. These tools were applied on an exploratory basis during a negotiation process with a key stakeholder within the area of influence of Compañía Minera Antamina’s operations, yielding positive results such as optimizing negotiation times and preventing the escalation of potential conflicts.
