As a result, in 2020, Contract No. IBA-IB-29-2020-UNSA was signed, with funding of S/ 250,000.00, sourced from the mining canon. This study aims to assess the potential wind and small-scale hydropower energy in the lower river basins of the mountain ranges. The lower basin of the Ocoña River in Arequipa, was selected as a representative case due to its topography. As results, wind speeds on the order of 10 m/s were obtained, with a persistence of 8 hours per day. As for the small-scale hydropower, with a minimum flow of 50 m3/s during dry season, an annual persistence greater than 90% was observed. In conclusion, the wind, small-scale hydropower, and combined energy potential at this representative site is sufficient for energy utilization, which is essential for the development of mining, agriculture, etc.
